...browsing through old photos...actually, trying to clean up the computer 'cause it's moving so slow. can't afford a new one so S bought an external hard drive to house our music and photos. they take up too much room!

garden update:

pea season is over. O had a great time picking and shelling them each day. must plant more next year.

potatoes need to be dug up.

radishes have been uprooted and eaten.

1st crop of lettuce has all been eaten. the second is nearing the end. will plant more in the fall.

carrots--when I dug them up a week or so ago, they were itty bitty. the tops look great. this is the 1st year we've grown them.

green beans are delicious! wish I'd planted more...

raspberry transplant did not survive. nor did the arbor day white pines i planted.

melon, cucumbers, peppers and tomatoes look great. nothing much harvested yet.

This one truly has changed how I think. I resolve to discuss race with my son. I will praise him for his effort. I commit to helping him get more sleep. It's okay--he will lie. I no longer have faith in the gifted program. If O has a sibling, I must help them work through their fights. I won't take it personally when my teen kids rebel. Self control can be taught to young children. I will/have limited O's exposure to television/media. Brainiac baby videos don't work--already knew this one!

I have been "going" to school for the past three years to obtain my masters in library science--M.L.S. Here are some questions I recently answered for a prospective student. Probably more than you ever needed to know about library school...

I'd also be curious to hear about the types of projects/papers etc. that are required for the courses.

Have you taken any of the archives courses? I am currently examining different programs and also looking at the possibility of getting the archives certificate rather than a full MLS.

Honestly, I don't think the projects, papers or classes are too challenging. In fact, I think a lot of people can skate by. Ultimately, you get out what you put into it. I would suggest that you get the full masters degree instead of the certificate unless you know of a library where the archives certificate is acceptable. Most libraries, I believe, want the M.L.S., especially in this competitive market--more people are searching for jobs in the library field because of budget cuts and lay-offs.

Our yoga teacher, Karim, has "retired". She's no longer teaching public classes. We are saddened and working to find a way to be able to afford to have her teach us privately. I have taken yoga from her for 6 1/2 yrs. It's been nearly that long for Scott too.

Last night we watched Karim perform as part of her former musical group--Tango Lorca. She sang and they played excellently as we watched many couples tango on the dance floor--a merry experience.
